The Susa Valley is characterised by a special microclimate, even compared to that of other Alpine valleys, and by the presence of important communication routes to France and to the plain.

This has made a continuous exchange of products and knowledge possible since ancient times, and today offers many varieties of local produce: cheese, honey, cured meats, chestnuts, fruit, potatoes...

Every farming family owned an orchard, even in mixed cultivation, a potato field, hives for honey or a few pigs for sausages. These productions were always far from intensification and exploitation, and cultivation and production were originally linked to an economy of self-consumption or sale in local markets.

Today, the focus on this type of product, valorised and recognised through protection marks, has allowed a commercial relaunch even outside the Valsusino territory.
